Review

Seraphina is celebrating her sixteenth birthday, maybe not in the way a teenager would want to celebrate it, maybe surrounded by friends and classmates. Sera is celebrating with his father and his girlfriend and still does not feel the center of attention of her parent. When, however, note that a person is watching, a Lady in Black, she realizes that there is something wrong. The Lady and a series of events disrupt her life, bringing her to live with her aunt in a new city, Chicago. Soon she discovers that the mysterious guy, the one portrayed in a photo she has received, is nothing more than someone very close to her and that her life is anything but normal.

Seraphina is a strong girl, but at the same time is very weak: not intimidated facing the challenges, but hides many fears in her heart. It ’s a sixteen year old rebel and the lack of a mother by her side has been felt over the years. She traveled a lot with her father, even abroad, and has never formed a bond with no particular place, feeling a little a tramp.

But she has a gift: she can travel through time. A gift that she should exercise with care and preparation, so the aunt enrolled her in the mysterious institution twin to the one which she had started dating in Chicago. An institution where all the kids are divided into three categories: Wanderers, those who can travel through time; Seer, their aides who know how to examine the relics needed to travel; Protector, the guys who accompany and protect Wanderers during their mission in the past. So Seraphina will be aware of her team. On one hand Samatha James, a young girl of thirteen who seems to know much more about her, and on the other Max Bishop, the mysterious guy who has already saved once, and for which evidence a strong attraction.

Sera, however, wants more than anything to see her mother now dead and save her life from the tragic accident that took her away from her.

To get what she wants, she will have to learn to trust others and she will have to travel back in time, discovering places well away from the cold Chicago.
